Hardwick Select Board – Warning of Public Hearing

The Hardwick Select Board hereby provides notice of a public hearing being held pursuant to 24 VSA §4444 (Public Hearing Notice) for the purpose of hearing public comments concerning proposed changes to the Hardwick Unified Development Bylaws.  The public hearing has been scheduled for March 19, 2026 (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Memorial Building and by Zoom.

Statement of Purpose:

The proposed changes to the Hardwick Unified Development Bylaws (known hereafter as “Bylaws”) will serve the following purposes:

  1. Align with state statutory requirements regarding dwelling units, including provisions enabling the conversion of hotels and motels into permanently affordable housing.
  2. Remove references to local Act 250 review in accordance with updated guidance under Act 181.
  3. Establish and implement a River Corridor Overlay District to protect floodplains and flood erosion areas.
  4. Create and integrate a new Village Center Zoning District for East Hardwick to support historic village character, housing opportunities, and pedestrian-oriented development.

Geographic Area Affected:

The Bylaw changes shall apply to all areas in the Town of Hardwick, Vermont.

CASPIAN LAKE Swim Program

SUMMER SWIM LESSONS FOR HARDWICK RESIDENTS! In collaboration with the Hardwick Recreation Committee, TATS will offer subsidized swim lessons to HARDWICK RESIDENTS. Lessons are also open to swimmers in surrounding towns.

FOR AGES: 2 Years – 13 Years Old

ABOUT GROUP SWIM LESSONS: Centered around ability rather than age, group lessons provide an immersive, peer-educational experience for water safety and swim skill instruction.

Start Date:

Session 1: July 20-24, 2026, Starting at 10 AM

Session 2: July 27-31, 2026, Starting at 10 AM

Fee: $20.00 for Hardwick Residents* (Scholarships Available) *Residents are responsible for a $10 late registration fee for any registration received after May 31, 2026. Non-Resident Rates Vary.

Town of Hardwick Public Works Department- Water Leak (Repaired)

UPDATE as of 11:20 A.M : From: Town of Hardwick Public Works Department

What: Water Leak (REPAIRED)

Affected Streets: Granite Street, Brook Street, Cottage Street, Spring Street, and Lower Cherry Street North of Elm Street, will be experiencing little to no water pressure while the leak is being repaired. 

Crews have repaired the water leak at the intersection of Cottage Street and Lower Cherry Street. 

If you live on the affected streets, it is recommended that you boil any water used for drinking for the next 24 hrs. 

March 4, 8:30 A.M.

Affected Streets: Granite Street, Brook Street, Cottage Street, Spring Street, and Lower Cherry Street, North of Elm Street, will be experiencing little to no water pressure while the leak is being repaired. 

Crews have isolated the leak near the intersection of Cottage and Lower Cherry and have begun work.

We will put out additional notifications as the day progresses.
