Lamoille River Kayak Expedition
Rachel and Renaud kayaked a section of the Lamoille to scope out environmental concerns and trash. There is considerable erosion next to Highway 16 but no trash. So there is no need for a river clean-up. We should do another event when the water level of the river is higher.

Come Learn about Controlling Phragmites (Common Reed)
On Saturday, May 16 at 1:00pm at the Jeudevine Library, Annie D’Alton will explain two simple hand-harvesting methods known to successfully control this highly-invasive (sometimes 10+ feet tall!) grass. Annie is an avid amateur botanist and citizen scientist, currently testing these methods on the shoreline of Nichols Pond.
After the presentation and refreshments, we will try these methods with Annie on a Phragmites population close by on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.
This event is sponsored by the Hardwick Conservation Commission and welcomes everyone. This event is not sponsored by the Jeudevine library.
