Town of Hardwick Update April 29. 2020
Hardwick Property Tax Due Date of May 10, 2020 remains in effect.
Dear Hardwick Tax Payer,
At the Select Board Meeting on April 16, 2020 the Property Tax due date of May 10, 2020 was carefully reviewed. At that time it was determined to hold to the due date of May 10, due mostly to the fact that the Town of Hardwick will have to pay a substantial school district bill no later than June 1, 2020. On this subject the state is considering amending the law related to property tax payment processing to include extending due dates and potentially waving penalties and interest but nothing finalized as of yet. The Select Board will continue to discuss details associated with property tax payments at its upcoming meeting on May 7. An update will be provided it any substantial changes on the information indicated here.
FOR PROCESSING OF HARDWICK PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS –
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic we are continuing to limit the occupancy of the Town Clerk’s office. Therefore we will be open to the public on a limited basis. We will be open FOR TAX COLLECTION ONLY next Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again on May 11, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
We will have the same procedures for these days.
- We will only be allowing one (1) customer in the building at a time. Please be aware you may have to wait outside of the building for a period of time.
- If you are not wearing a face mask you will not be permitted into the building.
- You may not enter the building if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, cough, fever, or shortness of breath.
- Again, we are only open for tax collection we will not be conducting any other business.
We still request that if at all possible you mail your tax payments to us at Town of Hardwick, P.O. Box 523, Hardwick, VT 05843. If you would like a receipt we will mail one to you immediately.
For those who need to set up a contract option to pay the property tax bill following the noted due date, the Town Manager’s office will be coordinating this process following May 11. Please call 472-6120 and or email email@example.com for more information.
