The Town of Hardwick is accepting applications for the position of Sergeant We are seeking an energetic, positive professional with a strong desire to provide quality police services to a progressive community. Applicants must be level III certified or certifiable by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council. Minimum job requirements include the following; Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or other closely related field with three years of police work experience. Four years of increasingly responsible police experience, preferably in a municipal or state environment, two years of which must have involved supervisory and administrative responsibility. Additional years of police work experience as defined above may be substituted for the Associate’s Degree on six months for a semester basis. Must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Current labor contracts provide for competitive wages and benefits including health insurance, life insurance, a generous amount of accrued time off, and participation in the Vermont Municipal Retirement System. Day, night, weekend and holiday work is required. This is a union position.
