Hardwick Equity Committee Seeks Members

The Town of Hardwick is seeking community members interested in serving on the Hardwick Area Equity Committee. We have 5 open seats out of 9. A majority of seats are open to Hardwick community members and there are seats open for individuals living in other communities. The Committee Meetings are held the first Monday of each month from 6 – 7:30 p.m. We are currently working on a broad range of initiatives and actions.

The objectives of this committee are to:
-Assist the Select Board in establishing and implementing a program to educate the Select Board, town employees and our community about marginalized people,
-Assist the Select Board to solicit, include and welcome voices of marginalized people,
-Make recommendations to the Select Board on how to work toward ending systemic racism through our policies, buying power, and actions,
-Make recommendations to the Select Board about how to work towards making Hardwick a more welcoming, inclusive, and safe community, where all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression of sexual orientation, immigration status, religious or political affiliation, etc. can feel protected, included, secure, safe, and ensured of equal justice under the law.

Sergeant

The Town of Hardwick is accepting applications for the position of Sergeant We are seeking an energetic, positive professional with a strong desire to provide quality police services to a progressive community. Applicants must be level III certified or certifiable by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council. Minimum job requirements include the following; Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or other closely related field with three years of police work experience. Four years of increasingly responsible police experience, preferably in a municipal or state environment, two years of which must have involved supervisory and administrative responsibility. Additional years of police work experience as defined above may be substituted for the Associate’s Degree on six months for a semester basis. Must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Current labor contracts provide for competitive wages and benefits including health insurance, life insurance, a generous amount of accrued time off, and participation in the Vermont Municipal Retirement System. Day, night, weekend and holiday work is required. This is a union position.

Patrol Officer

The Town of Hardwick is accepting applications for the position of Patrol Officer. We are seeking energetic, positive professionals with a strong desire to provide quality police services to a progressive community. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; possess exceptional moral character; strong work ethics, have the ability to pass the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council’s (VCJTC) physical fitness test, the VCJTC entrance exam & psychological evaluation (MMPI).

Applicants chosen to proceed in the hiring process will undergo an extensive background investigation, to include a polygraph test and interviews with the Chief of Police and Town Manager. Current full time (level 3) certified officers are welcome to apply.

Current labor contracts provide for competitive wages and benefits including health insurance, life insurance, a generous amount of accrued time off, and participation in the Vermont Municipal Retirement System. Day, night, weekend and holiday work required. This is a union position.
