Notice of Untreated Wastewater Discharge in area near Mackville Road and South Main Street

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, just prior to noon, a report of a potential blockage to the wastewater collection system in the vicinity Mackville Road near the Evergreen Manor Mobile Home Park was investigated by the Wastewater Department.  During the field inspection, it was determined that a break in a wastewater collection system line controlled by the Department had occurred. It is unknown when the break took place but it is estimated to have occurred within the past week; the Department is unable to estimate the volume of untreated flow that may have entered the ditch area near the break location.  The blockage and repair are being completed the afternoon of May 26.  The Department is completing required reporting to the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Wastewater Management Division.  For all in the area, please avoid recreating (swimming, fishing, wading)  near this location and or in the vicinity of Rt. 14 Bridge on South Main Street at the Cooper Brook crossing and downstream approximately 300 feet.
